Why AC Systems in St. Petersburg, FL Need Special Attention
With the Tampa Bay and Boca Ciega Bay so close, homes in Historic Old Northeast, Pasadena, and Crescent Lake often deal with AC challenges unique to the area:
- Salt Air Exposure – Living near Central Avenue and 4th Street North means your AC unit is more susceptible to rust and corrosion. Regular inspections and protective coatings can help extend its lifespan.
- Intense Humidity & Moisture Buildup – Homes in Shore Acres and Venetian Isles are prone to excess indoor humidity, which can cause mold and mildew. AC maintenance, dehumidifiers, and clean ductwork can improve air quality.
- Storm Damage & Power Surges – Sudden power outages and surges from summer storms in Disston Heights and Euclid-St. Paul can damage AC components. Installing a surge protector can prevent costly repairs.
- Energy Drain from Large Homes & Open Floor Plans – Properties in Maximo Moorings and Bayway Isles often require high-efficiency AC systems to keep energy bills from soaring.
Most Common HVAC Services in St. Petersburg, FL
AC units in Historic Kenwood, Riviera Bay, and Shore Acres work hard throughout the year. These are some of the most frequent issues we repair:
- Insufficient Cooling – If your AC isn’t keeping up, clogged air filters, refrigerant leaks, or blocked ducts might be the cause. This is especially common in Causeway Isles and Lake Pasadena.
- Frequent On & Off Cycling – If your AC runs in short bursts, it could be due to dirty coils, a faulty thermostat, or improper unit size, often seen in Broadwater and Bay Pines.
- Strange Noises – Grinding, rattling, or buzzing sounds can mean loose components, fan issues, or compressor failure, which we often see in Isla Del Sol and Dolphin Cay.
- Leaking Water – A clogged condensate drain or frozen coils can cause leaks, leading to mold growth and water damage—common in St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island.
- Skyrocketing Energy Bills – A failing or outdated AC system may be overworking to cool your home, increasing your utility costs. Many homeowners in Lakewood Estates and Pink Streets opt for energy-efficient AC upgrades to lower expenses.

Excellent service!

Came out for system not cooling properly. Upon arrival. Customer had a clogged drain line and trip float switch after cleaning out drain line machine, machines operational and working correct
Great same day service with wonderful tech who literally saved us from melting 🫠!
He claimed to have over 20 years experience and AC work but gave me a wrong diagnostic on my AC unit saying that it had a leak and I needed Freon and a leak detection oil which would have cost me over $700 !!! When in fact, it was never that !! he never checked the Duck work in the garage, which had came loose and needed to be replaced so that I wouldn’t be sucking in hot air from the garage once that was fixed. My house is ice cold. I always believe that if you are in business and can’t figure something out at least be honest.
Great Job!
Such a great service call today! James explained everything as he diagnosed my unit. I choose to buy the warranty to complete the necessary work. I appreciate you, James..TY😊

They were able to dispatch John first thing the next morning who immediately identified the problem, provided a quick solution, and a plan for a long term fix. Couldn’t be more pleased with the experience and would definitely recommend to others!

Aaron and crew were efficient; he explained what was needed and we agreed with his suggestion. Disappointed in lack of communication with dispatching and customers. Scheduled earlier in the week & appointment was changed without a dispatcher notifying us.
I meant a delightful technician who works for Mason's air conditioning company here in Pinellas County, his name is Cruz, he had been out to my house prior for another issue, I have an older AC model but unfortunately I don't have the cash to buy a brand new one so therefore I guess I'm kind of like putting new shoes on a new vehicle one tire at a time, unfortunately you put one new equipment on the old AC then sometimes it doesn't recognize that you put a brand new part on so therefore another issue pops up. That was the case with me I have an older AC unit and unfortunately do the fact that I am lightly seasoned and live on social security to produce the money to buy a whole new unit was not even in my equation the finances. However, would that being said I needed a new blower up in my attic my problem is I care for a rescue cats I always ask any type of companies that have to come service the inside of my house are you allergic to cats? I was provided with one and he was severely allergic I said no I don't I was so awful and the other one would not be available for the next day that was not a problem that person was not allergic to cats and I was delighted, the technician that came to my front door was again Cruz, one of my cat said oh boy new person to come in and she like right there basically in his lap so that was a good thing. Cruise was there on a Saturday April 27th to replace the blower that had taken a permanent sabbatical it need to be replaced. Once again I have to ask who's coming and are they allergic to cats at the later end of the day I did receive notation that Cruz was going to come out on Saturday to install the new blower what I didn't realize was it was his day off I said no no I said I don't want him to take his day off as long as you find me somebody that's not allergic to cats that would be fine, Cruz wasn't having it he knows my system he is not allergic to cats the cats like him and he didn't have a problem coming in on his day off now that's dedication and I can certainly appreciate that. Unfortunately I had to have another tire put to my car which means I had to have a new blower installed in the Attic. He did an awesome job installing it and cleaned up after himself and once again I thanked him at the bottom of my heart for coming in on his day off he says no problem no problem at all I was honored to do it. The house is starting to cool off which I was excited I've not had the AC working and a month. You know it's hard to trust somebody else when you've been working with one particular technician doesn't mean that they're all not good and and otherwise they would not be working at Mason's Air Conditioning company but just like going to the doctors it's hard to have to change over to a new one because you so used to one person doing a certain way. I wanted Cruz to know thank you I appreciate all your hard work and all your knowledge and your TLC and making me feel like I'm part of the family and even a little bit of yours you're the best Thank you Mason air conditioning company for hiring him that was an excellent choice he's a great asset to the company he's a great asset to the customers and he's a great asset to the community thank you for all that you do.
Wow, wow, I come really close to losing my confidence sometimes just a little professional but caring person can make the difference between a unsuccessful experience to a successful experience, today I met a very nice gentleman who was the technician through Mason air condition company his name is James now by the time James got to me I had just kind of lost all hope not that I'm saying any other technician didn't do their job successfully with professionalism as well as caring, but I need a double reassuring after we found that with the problem was nobody says anything's cheapest day and age if you want something done correctly the first time. Once change was able to find the issue the addressed it with me and what it would take to hopefully successfully for long period of time but nobody knows when it comes to mechanical whether or not it's going to have a good day or bad year, with that being said I was told what needed to be addressed and I was quoted the price but that price could have been worse so that's something that was somewhat comforting, luckily my AC unit didn't have to take the full 5 gallons of freon and of course I'm sitting in my house going okay the gauge is not going lower but I have been looking at it for the past couple months they can will ever get cooler in here so now there's that little negative hanging over James's head going I better do this right the first time this lady's not going to be happy but it's not the fact that I'm unhappy is the fact that the unknown, Sometimes we customers we need that little extra TLC and his line of work he knows what he's talking about I know a little bit but not enough it's not my line of work I'm in the medical field if I were to talk to him about the things I did working in medical field he would probably go I'm not sure but if you say so I'll believe you so kind of like the same case scenario. Even though it only took a certain amount I'm still trying to not watch the temperature on the machine and it could feel the strength of the flow of coolness coming through but still even after closing all the windows I didn't think about it until James explain to me that my house is full of humidity got to get the humidity out first he explained before you can actually call up the rest of the house that makes perfect sense. He didn't hang outside in front of my house in his car and I kept running out a couple times going I would say this and I would say that and one particular time I said was not dropping any lower and then you know I probably know this but I need the reassurance that the computer in the temperature gauge on the wall still have to recognize that the temperature is getting lower but it's just not going to happen when you snap your fingers, and I and I'm sure I'm not doing one one snap your fingers and make it instantly cold. James was gentle very professional with a little TLC he brought back my confidence that I already knew it was there but when you're frustrated sometimes she just don't see things in a positive form I see things now in a positive form with the reinforcement of education that I received from James and my understanding how my unit and my temperature gauge works. James and Mason air conditioning company I've always felt very comfortable having them come to my house I kind of feel like they're my family and I'm sure they feel that when they go to other customers houses it is as if they're going to their own family member or their grandparents or their cousins however they know that they're going there because they understand the magnitude of the units they're not perfect but they understand enough what can and can at work you can only explain to somebody it's like leaving a horse to water will it drink hopefully it will same case scenario when it comes to technology. As of 20 minutes ago by not watching it the gauge is family catching up with what I am asking it to do I have not seen those numbers that low in a month. Thank you James for being who you are and thank you for adding that little extra TLC and your words and thank you Mason air conditioning for hiring James he is a great asset to the community and to your organization..
My service tech was very knowledgeable, on time and throughly explained how to repair the problem.
James was excellent and provided a comprehensive explanation of services to be provided.
Great service!
Wow! James from Mason Air was fantastic!
