Common Air Conditioning Issues We Experience in Tampa
- Low refrigerant levels or leaks can affect the cooling capacity of the unit and lead to inefficient operation. Detecting and repairing refrigerant leaks is essential for optimal performance.
- Faulty wiring, capacitor issues, or malfunctioning sensors can cause electrical problems in air conditioning units. These issues may result in the system failing to start or erratic operation. Proper diagnosis and repair of electrical components are necessary to restore functionality.
- Frozen evaporator coils are often caused by restricted airflow or low refrigerant levels. When the coils freeze, airflow is impeded, resulting in reduced cooling capacity. Thawing the coils and addressing the underlying cause is essential for preventing further damage.
- Dirty or clogged air filters can restrict airflow, reducing the efficiency of the air conditioning system. Regularly replacing or cleaning air filters is crucial for maintaining optimal performance and indoor air quality.

Tampa AC Repair Service FAQs
The average cost for a new air conditinoing system ranges from $3,500 to $12,000 near Tampa. Some factors include the size of your home, what type of system needs to be installed, energy efficieny and ductwork needs.
Some of the reasons fixing an air conditioner is so costly include:
- Modern air conditioning systems are complex machines with various components such as compressors, coils, fans, and refrigerants.
- Diagnosing the exact problem requires knowledge and sometimes specialized tools.
- Repairing or replacing these components can be costly, especially if they are not readily accessible.
If your air conditioning unit is running but not cooling your Tampa home, first check your air filters. This is the #1 reason because dirty filters could be impeding the air flow. Other reasons include dirty coils, thermostat settings, refrigerant leak or electrical issues.

DIY AC Maintenance Tips to Keep Your AC Running Smoothly
- Regularly Change Air Filters: AC repair in Tampa often stems from clogged air filters. Make it a habit to check and replace your filters every 1-3 months to ensure optimal airflow.
- Clean the Outdoor Unit: Clear away debris such as leaves, dirt, and branches from the outdoor unit. This helps maintain proper airflow and prevents overheating.
- Check Thermostat Settings: Ensure your thermostat is set to the right temperature. Lowering the temperature too much can strain your AC system.
- Schedule Professional Inspections: While DIY maintenance helps, nothing beats a professional inspection. Aim to have your AC serviced at least once a year to catch potential issues early.

Brennan G Today I visited for the drain clogging up. I cleared the line and found substantial debris inside the pipe. I did not charge for the visit because we were out for a maintenance not very long ago. I watched the system run and and start draining normally before leaving.
Brennan G Today I visited for the system not cooling. I discovered the condenser unit electrical cabinet had flooded with water from the hurricane. I determined to begin repairs on the system the transformer and the communication board inside the condenser (outside unit) will need to be replaced. Until those 2 parts are replaced it is impossible to determine what other repairs are needed, If any. Due to the potential cost and uncertainty of repairing the system we recommended replacing the entire condenser. Or replacing the entire system. Victoria declined moving forward with any work at this time. The home was flooded from the hurricane and she is still deciding what to do with the property.
Need to order outdoor condenser board and bring surge protector just in case customer is interested in adding one
Brennan G Today I visited to determine what can be done about the air distribution and the hotter rooms in the home. I provided estimates to either replace the duct system or install mini splits.
